The Royal Manor of Portland is located in Dorset on the south coast of England, forming part of the heritage coastline known as the Jurassic Coast.
Known for centuries as the home of Portland Stone, and used in many famous buildings worldwide, with possibly the most famous being St Pauls Catherdral as designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
Portland is now evolving into a center of leisure activities such as, Diving, Fishing, Bird Watching, Rock Climbing & Walking. There is also a wide variety of water sports, especially Sailing at the newly opend Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Acadamy, which is also the venue fot the sailing events in the 2012 Olympic Games.
Presently under construction in Portland is a Futuristic designed Marina with luxury Flats & Penthouse Apartments served by numerous Shops, Pubs & Resturants.
Portland is within 6 miles of the famous seaside town of Weymouth. It's well known sandy beaches & entertainment throught the year, served by a regular bus service to and from Weymouth every 10 minutes throughout the day.
There is also an excellent Train Service from Weymouth to London & other parts of the U.K. - Including a Ferry Terminal to Jersey and the Contintent
